Coffee
Blame it on my Dad, but I love coffee. It’s a strange beverage - I’m not sure you are born enjoying it, with its bitterness and acidity, harshness and complexity. It’s certainly an acquired taste - but once acquired, you just can’t imagine going without.
Right now, Starbucks still has some Casi Cielo left - it’s a single origin Guatemalan coffee that’s just superb. Medium roast / body, it’s smooth and cocoa-ey, full body but not harsh. Quite delicious! Get some while it’s still available. Even if you think you don’t like Starbucks coffee, try it out. It’s not anywhere near the harsh intensity of the Cafe Verona (which I don’t care for). For cheap good coffee, Eight O’Clock is pretty decent.
For decent coffee, there is a perceivable difference in flavor based on when it was ground and how it’s stored. I grind my own, with a Burr grinder, but even if you buy whole bean and ask them to grind it for you, it will taste better. Also - get a cheap vacuum canister to store it in! They are available on Amazon and keep ground (or whole bean) coffee nice and fresh for a week or so.
Here’s how I like my coffee:
Automatic drip machine
Medium grind on good coffee
1 level coffee scoop (1T) per “cup”
Serve with half and half or whole milk (Fairlife whole is excellent)
